Meeting room, with a stars and stripes flag on the wall. Three congresswomen are seated on one side of a large table with folders/notes in front of them. Representative JACKIE BARNAM is sitting in the middle, with Representative SELINA ROYCE sitting to her left and Representative MARIANA SOTO sitting to her right. They talk among themselves about preparing for the witness. After a minute or so, we hear a knock at the door.
REP BARNAM: Come in.
DR PISTOL enters. He carries a small, thin flashlight, unnoticed by the congresswomen.
REP BARNAM: (welcoming tone) Make yourself comfortable Dr Pistol.
He sits in front of the three congresswomen.
REP BARNAM: I'm State Representative Barnam, and the Chair of this bipartisan panel. My colleagues are (she indicates) Representatives Soto and Royce. Thank you for attending this evidence session Dr Pistol.
DR PISTOL: It's good to be here. I'm sure we can clear up this misunderstanding swiftly.
REP BARNAM: (tone changes to stern) We'll be the judge of that. Let me explain exactly why you are here. You know the focus of this congressional inquiry; we are investigating the unexplained explosion in pornography and lewd behaviour in this state. Tens, if not hundreds of women in your area have decided to pose for nude pictures, perform in sordid videos or simply cavort naked in the street. DR PISTOL: Well I don't

DR PISTOL starts to speak, then thinks better of it.

DR PISTOL: Well, I don't know what to say other than I'm innocent. I simply run a science lab, specialising in psychological and cognitive research.

DR PISTOL: No, no, I mean it as a positive, affirming statement. REP BARNAM: (laughs derisively) This should be entertaining at least. Ok Dr Pistol, convince me.
DR PISTOL: (speaks slowly and deliberately, as if what he is saying is profound) My argument is simple: all women should become sluts for men, because...all women secretly want to be sluts...isn't that right?
He presses the button on his flashlight. We see a small light appear on REP BARNAM'S midriff, and she noticeably relaxes. She's not dazed or robotic, she just suddenly agrees with him, and is as confident in her statements as before.

Both the other congresswomen do a double-take.
